THE PROJECT

Rugeley Road Energy Storage Facility is a battery energy storage project designed to store and release clean, renewable energy to the UK electricity grid. This project will contribute to the UK’s target of reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 and reduce our reliance on fossil fuels such as oil and gas.

The proposed development will have a footprint of approximately 1 acre, and will be capable of importing / exporting up to 100MW of power from / to the national grid.

Typical components of an energy storage facility include:

  • Battery Storage Units (BSUs);
  • Power Conversion Systems (PCS);
  • Acoustic and Security Fencing;
  • CCTV cameras with associated lighting columns;
  • DNO Control building;
  • Customer control building and Switchroom;
  • Spare Parts Container;
  • Water storage tanks;
  • Drainage retention basin and lagoon;
  • Parking;
  • Access tracks;
  • Landscaping.
