RUGELEY ROAD ENERGY STORAGE FACILITY

Rugeley Road Energy Storage Facility is a proposed Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) development designed to store and release clean energy and to support the UK in its drive to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

The proposed development will have a footprint of approximately 1 acre, and will be screened by new and existing woodland. Qair undertakes a thorough and considered site selection process; as a result, this site has been selected for the following reasons:

  • There is a particular need for energy storage in this region, and this location facilitates an on-site grid connection.
  • The site is well screened by existing woodland, which would be further enhanced to provide significant biodiversity net gain.
  • The proposed facility would be sited far enough away from residential properties to negate any noise impact.
  • The location is well connected to the Strategic Road Network and local A roads.
